Dubai: An expatriate from Syria got second-time lucky after he was named the new millionaire in the latest Dubai Duty Free raffle.

Chehadeh Mansour, a Syrian national who had earlier won a luxury car in a related raffle, was declared as the winner of $1 million (Dh3.6 million) at a draw at Dubai International Airport on Tuesday.

He first got lucky back in January 2015, when he drove home a BMW 750LI Exclusive at the Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise raffle.

The latest millionaire is currently on vacation and cannot be reached by Gulf News for further details. Organisers, however, said that Mansour regularly buys tickets for the Dubai Duty Free promotions.

The 47-year-old expatriate, who has four children, happens to be the fifth Syrian national to have bagged $1 million from Dubai Duty Free.

He works as a salesman at a shop in Gold Souk and purchased the lucky ticket at the airport when he was flying to Beirut.

Aside from Mansour, two other individuals got lucky. Ishwinder Singh Rehsi, 23, from India, won a Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe, while Ali Saad Al Janoubi from Saudi Arabia won a BMW R 1200 R bike.

Rehsi bought his first ticket in Dubai Duty Free promotion before flying back home after his short visit to Dubai.

When advised of the news Rehsi said: “I’m surprised to hear such wonderful news, and I thank Dubai Duty Free for this luck.”
