The investigation is ongoing.

A man who was arrested on Monday after he allegedly withdrew over US$800 from an ATM at the Sangster International Airport in St James is one of seven men now in custody for suspected involvement in lottery scamming.

The others were reportedly arrested hours later at an unfinished house in Adelphi, St James during a secondary operation led by the Lottery Scam Taskforce and the Area Two Operational Support Team.

Their names have not been released.

Eleven cell phones and 35 letter-sized sheets of paper with the names, addresses and telephone numbers of individuals living overseas were seized during the operation, sources told The Gleaner.

According to sources, the cell phones contained several lead lists and were used to call numerous overseas telephone numbers.

The police were reportedly alerted after a 36-year-old hotel worker was seen acting in a suspicious manner while withdrawing cash from the ATM.

During a search by responding cops, he was allegedly found with a gold Green Dot Bank Visa debit card bearing the name of someone living overseas and US$820, sources disclosed.

It's reported that during the second operation six men were seen in the unfinished building speaking on cell phones with letter-sized papers in hand.
