On the anniversary of the history show at Nashville’s American Legion Post 82, Billy Strings and Bryan Sutton are letting fans who were unable to attend the intimate concert enjoy it.
Last year, Billy Strings and renowned guitarist Bryan Sutton teamed up for two shows on one day at Nashville’s American Legion Post 82. With one show occurring at 3 pm and the other at 8 pm, fans quickly jumped on getting tickets, as it was a unique lottery selection.
Given the American Legion is a very small space, famous for being the location of Honky Tonk Tuesdays, fans were drooling thinking about these two playing off of each other in front of their very own eyes. Of course, we have seen Strings and Sutton take the stage together before, and it’s pure magic, but something about being in a small room with this level of talent amps up the electricity to a new level.
Today, Billy Strings and Bryan Sutton decided to share the magic of these two shows with fans who were unable to snag tickets with the surprise release of Live At The Legion.
“OUT NOW: ‘Live At The Legion’ from Billy Strings and Bryan Sutton, available anywhere you listen to music. Recorded on April 7, 2024 at American Legion Inglewood Post 82 in Nashville, TN.”
The twenty-track record features traditional bluegrass and folk songs from both shows at the Legion that day and new renditions of Bob Dylan’s “Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright” and Doc Watson’s “Way Downtown.”
If you listen to this record and wish to see these two back in action again, you’re in luck. In celebration of the record’s release, Strings and Sutton have decided to run it back, performing a series of intimate shows in the fall. Stops on this tour include the Bluegrass Hall of Fame & Museum, Nashville’s The Ryman Auditorium, Chattanooga’s The Signal, and Boone, NC’s Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts.
Similar to how they did their show at the American Legion Post 82, tickets to the joint shows will be a lottery. Fans can request tickets now until April 21 at 2 pm ET.
Ahead of these joint dates, Billy Strings will continue to take his psychedelic bluegrass sound nationwide, with a long list of dates throughout the spring and summer.
This is one helluva way to kick off the week. Fire up a few on this fine Monday before you go.
