Eye-watering cost of Princess Isabella of Denmark's birthday party revealed as Queen Mary's daughter prepares to turn 18
The price of Queen Mary’s daughter’s 18th birthday party has been revealed, with the cost of the ritzy event soaring well into the tens of thousands of dollars.
Queen Mary and King Frederik X of Denmark are set to throw an extravagant series of pricey celebrations for their daughter’s 18th birthday.
Princess Isabella of Denmark will celebrate her birthday on April 21, as the Danish royals look to splash cash well into the high tens of thousands for the milestone.
The Danish royal household confirmed in a statement the Princess’ birthday will be celebrated early, with two “official events” to be held on April 11 and 15.
The Aarhus municipality revealed the eye-watering figures are set to soar upwards of 290,000 Norwegian Kroner, which is equivalent to about AU$70,000.
The first event will be a showstopping gala held on April 11 at the Aarhus City Hall, which will pay tribute to the "city’s many young talents in the creative fields such as music, sport, cuisine, and design".
The guest list will see over 200 people in attendance alongside Princess Isabella and the Danish royal family.
About 100 people from Danish youth groups will be in attendance, with an additional 50 local groups given the “opportunity to participate in the event via a lottery”.
The money poured into celebrations will be spent on entertainment, including actors and performers appearing in the production.
Menu, catering and security are set to be other considerable expenses.
A "surprise present" for the Princess is estimated to be worth about 10,000 kroner (AU$2400).
The Royal Family will attend a second event on April 15 at The Royal Danish Theatre’s Old Stage, Copenhagen.
The Royal House of Denmark and The Royal Danish Theatre will invite youth to entertain, excite and perform classical and modern arts on The Old stage during the evening.
“The theatre will be filled with a young audience, as more than 1000 young people ranging from the ages of 17 to 24 from the whole Realm will have the opportunity to get tickets to the birthday performance via a lottery,” the Danish Royals said in a statement.
Princess Isabella will also receive an honour from her father King Frederik, just a few days out from her actual birthday, known as the Order of the Elephant.
The royal family is also expected to hold a private birthday celebration for Princess Isabella with family and loved ones on her actual birthday.
This is the second time in under two years the Danish royals have thrown an extravagant ritzy 18th birthday celebration.
Isabella’s brother Crown Prince Christian had an 18th birthday at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen, which was hosted by Christian's grandmother and then-monarch Queen Margrethe II in October 2023.
