Star guard Olivia Miles, the country’s top transfer, signs with TCU women’s basketball

TCU has to replace departing stars Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince ahead of next season.

Mark Campbell and TCU’s women’s basketball team are keeping the good times rolling.

The Horned Frogs, who are coming off the first Elite Eight appearance in program history, secured the country’s top transfer, former Notre Dame guard Olivia Miles on Tuesday.

Miles, who was projected to be a lottery pick in this spring’s WNBA draft, instead elected to stay in college and enter the transfer portal. Now, she’s set to play for the same Horned Frogs team that beat the Fighting Irish in the Sweet 16 last month.

Her commitment is a boon for TCU, which will have to replace departing stars Hailey Van Lith and Sedona Prince ahead of next season. Miles, a 5-10 point guard from New Jersey, is a two-time All-American and three-time All-ACC first team selection.

“There is not a better point guard in the country than Olivia,” said TCU head coach Mark Campbell in the school’s Tuesday announcement. “She is a generational talent. Her vision, creativity, and playmaking ability make her a perfect fit in our pick and roll system. Olivia has won at the highest level and will add to the incredible foundation our program has built.”

Miles’ talent has been evident since her first season at Notre Dame when she became the first freshman, man or woman, to tally a triple-double in the NCAA Tournament. Despite missing the entire 2023-24 season with a torn ACL, Miles is the active NCAA leader in total assists (654) and assists per game (6.5).

Miles scored a career-high 15.4 points per game while averaging 5.6 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game last season. Notably, her 3-point shooting took a significant step forward last year with her average improving from 22.8% to 40.6%.

Alongside fellow All-American guard Hannah Hidalgo, Miles led a Notre Dame team that went 28-6 and peaked at No. 1 in the country before losing momentum late in the year and losing in the Sweet 16.
