Actress and comedian Cecily Strong has taken on a brand-new role: mom!

The Saturday Night Live alum announced that she recently welcomed her first child — a “beautiful squirmy baby girl” — with her fiancé in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday. Alongside the happy news, Strong shared a snapshot of herself, the newborn, and the family’s pet dog all resting in close proximity to one another.

“I recognize all her little squirms and kicks from when she was on the other side of me and now I get to say ‘see what I was talking about!’” she wrote. “She makes Robert De Niro faces and snorts when she is super determined on the boob. She’s gonna be stronger than me in about a week. Her squeaks and sighs are my favorite noises on earth.”

The Schmigadoon star explained that her daughter, whose name was not disclosed, was “born with a full head of dark hair which made me scream ‘whoo hoo!’ while pushing. And I’ve been screaming Whoo hoo every day since because she’s absolutely perfect and I won the lottery.”

Strong also shed some light on her experience bringing her and her fiancé’s daughter into the world.

“It was such a relatively easy birth with a glorious epidural that I forgot I’d still have to recover afterward from what feels like was the Muay Thai fighter from White Lotus kicking the crap out of my cooch,” she joked.

“I guess I’ll be healing for a while no matter what kind of magical thinking I did beforehand about being back on the Peloton or not eating cookies every day or whatever other hilarious ideas I may have had pre-World Changing Forever Day April 2nd,” she continued. “I’m so in love and so tired it’s like the greatest dream but it’s real.”

She also praised her fiancé for being both the “best dad” and “best partner I could have ever imagined,” noting that he is pulling double duty and performing a wide range of tasks including diapering, swaddling, bottle washing, breakfast cooking, dog cuddling, and hand-feeding her “crispy rice from Blue Ribbon Sushi in the hospital.”

Strong concluded, “Sorry for the run on sentences— I’ve called the pediatrician 'the vet' almost 35 times. I love you ESM.”

Her post’s comment section was quickly showered in love by fellow SNL past and present like Bobby Moynihan and Kenan Thompson, the latter of whom shared a series of red heart emojis. Ana Gasteyer added, “Awww this is wonderful!!! Sending you so much love and sleep.”

Strong currently holds the record as SNL’s longest-running female cast member, joining the show during its 27th season in 2012 and leaving midway through season 48 in 2022. She recently returned to Studio 8H while pregnant as part of the show’s 50th anniversary special in February.

The 41-year-old first announced that she was expecting ahead of the presidential election last November, using the reveal to stress the importance of reproductive rights, bodily autonomy, and family planning.

“Let’s all please vote to protect and uplift and support all of us that share or have shared those waiting rooms together," she wrote at the time. "And for the future ones like the little miss thing I’m really really hopeful I’ll get to meet next spring."
