Re: Purchase price of each casino still a mystery, by Megan Stacey, Aug. 4.

We welcome the opportunity to provide more information about the modernization of casino gaming in Southwestern Ontario.

The transfer of casino operations to the private sector will bring development and jobs to communities. It will also result in more provincial revenue from gaming, rising from $2 billion to more than $3 billion per year by 2022. This means more funding for health, education and other priorities.

This growth will also benefit host communities. As OLG revenues grow, so do payments to host municipalities. Under a common agreement, OLG pays communities with gaming sites a percentage of slot and table game revenue.

Overall, the modernization of casino gaming is in the public interest. OLG’s procurement of service providers was fair, open and transparent, and has been reviewed by third parties including the Auditor General of Ontario.
